CONCISED BIOGRAPHY:
Because of their opposition to Dutch rule, Sultan Ahmad, Tengkoe Adil and Tengkoe Pengiran Besar Muda were expelled to other parts of the Dutch East Indies by the Governor-General on February 11th 1859. The first two to the Riouw Islands, and Tengkoe Pengiran Besar Muda to Ambon.
Eventually, Tengkoe Adil ended up in Bogor where he met Saria, his future 4th wife. In 1886 the expulsion was lifted, and they all returned to Asahan.
Since Sultan Ahmad Shah had no male or female descendants, Tengkoe Adil's eldest son Tengkoe Ngah Tandjong (alias Husin Shah) became the next sultan.
