Born March 17, 1924 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, baptized in Aalsmeer in the Old Catholic Church, atheist, freethinker, refused to work for the Nazi occupiers and therefore locked up in Amersfoort Concentration Camp, forced to work in German labour camps in Northern Germany, after liberation he worked as a ship engineer for the British Royal Air Force, and afterwards as a locomotive engineer for N.S. (Dutch Railways), and as a hotelier in Bergen NH.
Jan emigrated to Canada in 1990, died April 13, 1994 in Oliver, BC, Canada at the age of 70 years, cremated April 15, 1994 in Penticton, BC.
Married June 5, 1945 in Schleswig, Germany to Maroesja (Rita) KRISCHKO.



5. Maroesja (Rita) KRISCHKO,
Born May 26, 1925 in Saitzinzi, Ukraine, no religious affiliation.
When she was eleven years old, her father was murdered by the communists in the Ukraine.
One year later, she and her brother Nikolai became orphans when their mother died of illnesses and starvation.
During the Nazi occupation she was forced to work in a German forced labour camp in Neumunster, and later in Schleswig in Northern Germany.
There she met her future husband Jan Brouwer.
After the liberation she went to live in the Netherlands. In a very short time she learned to speak fluent Dutch. Her two children were born in 1946 and 1952.
In 1991 she and her husband Jan moved to Canada to be closer to their family.
Maroesja resides on Salt Spring Island, BC.

    Grew up in Alkmaar, went to live in Bergen NH in 1967, spent two years as a conscript in the Dutch army, studied human geography at Amsterdam University, emigrated to Canada in 1980.
    Married May 6 1971 in Bergen NH to Tengkoe Boehaya Inge Noermaya (Maya) Mansoer.

    Born November 1, 1952 in Alkmaar, Netherlands, no religious affiliation, hotel receptionist in Bergen NH, sales clerk in Alkmaar, and assistant manager of a campground in Oliver BC, Canada.


    Married September 23, 1988 in Bergen NH, Netherlands to Rudolf Lugten, born September 30, 1950 in Bergen NH, no religious affiliation, sales clerk, photographer, co-owner of a photo development store chain in the Netherlands, emigrated to Canada in 1989, died March 13, 2002 near Gallagher Lake, BC, Canada at the age of 51 years, son of Dr. Johan Marinus Pieter Lugten and Louise Maria Jacoba Gregory.
6. Tengku Aswani HAFAS,
Born May 29 1920 in Tjina Kassih, Sumatra, Dutch East Indies (Indonesia), Muslim (liberal), businessman, died April 15, 1994 in Medan, Sumatra at the age of 73 years, buried April 16, 1994 in Medan, Sumatra.
Married May 2, 1944 in Tandjung Balai, Sumatra, Dutch East Indies to Tengku Sariah (Ietje) MANSOER.
Divorced August 8, 1950.

7. Tengku Sariah (Ietje) MANSOER,
Born January 14, 1925 in Leiden, Netherlands, no religious affiliation.
Lived in Leiden while her father was studying for his Ph.D. in Medicine at Leiden University's Faculty of Medicine, moved back to Dutch East-Indies with her parents in 1928 where she grew up in Medan.
Married (2) January 26, 1955 in Medan, Sumatra, to Jan Harm VELSINK, born October 15, 1927 in Emlichheim, Germany, baptized in the Old Christian Reformed church, moved with his parents to the Netherlands in 1939, no religious affiliation.
Jan joined the Dutch Army in 1945 as volunteer in the war against Japan.
After Japan's capitulation he was sent to Indonesia in 1946. Jan demobilized in 1948.
He stayed in Indonesia until 1961, and was employed by the Deli Spoorwegmaatschappij and by the Societe Financiere des Caoutchou in Medan.
He moved back to the Netherlands in 1961 where he became chief planner at the Transport Division of Hoogovens Steel Company in IJmuiden.
In 1992 he retired and emigrated with his wife Sariah to Canada.
Sariah and Jan reside at Gallagher Lake near Oliver, BC.

    Born May 23, 1945 in Medan, Sumatra, Indonesia, member of the Canadian Humanist Association, co-owner/operator of Gallagher Lake KOA Campground and Country Pines Retirement Park near Oliver BC until her retirement in May 2003.
    Married May 6, 1971 in Bergen NH to Theodorus (Theo, Ted) Brouwer.
  2. Tengku Iskandar (Lex) Mansoer,
    Born January 16, 1947 in Medan, Sumatra, Indonesie, no religious affiliation, kitchen designer and installer in Penticton, BC, Canada.
    In 1982 Lex emigrated with his family from Holland to Canada.
    From 1982 to 1984 he was employed by Gallagher Lake KOA, owned by his sister Maya and her husband Theo. Until 1992 he worked for Heritage Millwork which specialized in kitchen design.
    Since 1992 he has owned his own business.
    Hobbies: Golf and painting.

      Bob was two years old when he emigrated with his parents to Canada.
